Our next featured Lymie is in her late 50's. Katherine M lives in Arizona and has been diagnosed with Lyme Disease (along with co-infections). Back in October of 2001, Katherine became too sick to continue to work, do household chores, walk and read. Katherine was finally diagnosed with Lyme Disease in 2003 and began treatment.
Katherine's largest symptom are cognitive. She can not sit upright or be on her feet longer than 5 to 20 minutes. She needs lots of downtime and often types lying down with the keyboard on her legs. Katherine is in a forced vegetative state from about 10 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon. She isn't sleeping. She just is there. She has lost her ability to multi-task, read novels, cook dinner and tires easily. Katherine has been taking Amoxicillian & Biaxin for several months now.
Katherine needs to be able to move closer to her LLMD and a primary care physician who will prescribe her the medications and testing that she needs. She is in need of insurance to provide as much as possible since she doesn't have the funds to pay out of pocket. She needs prayers to know where to move as well as approval from the Section 8 Housing to provide her a quiet and safe place to live. Prayers for funding for both housing and for treatment are needed as well. Once Katherine finds a new place to live she's hoping to find help with packing, moving and unpacking. So please pray that God sends her people to assist her with these needs.
She is hoping that she will be approved for workman's compensation and they will provide the treatment she needs to regain her health as well as funds to move closer to her LLMD. Katherine has been blessed by the donation of two power chairs. One is for when she can not hold herself upright. She's also been blessed with a service dog, SSI and a safe, quiet, clean place to live. She is hoping that section 8 housing will be providing help with household chores twice a month starting this month.
Katherine is slowly seeing improvements, but feels that a lack of funds is causing it to take so long. She is very thankful for the medications and supplements that have been provided. She is thankful for everyone thoughts & prayers and hopes this will help people know how to pray.

Possibly answer to prayers. Talked with LLMD via email. She takes the state's ins. Low income housing next door. Don't know the area. Assuming I can't see LLMD until I actually live in that county. Next step is to get name of the housing next door and find out more.
ReplyDeleteAlso heard from Senator Flores office via a message on my machine. Need to call them back when my telephone skills are working.
Workmen's comp has been denied twice while I had attorney's who did not do their homework.
Need to know what the next step is or if there is even a next step.
Contacted section 8 housing for the county. They started taking transfer section 8 vouchers on September 1st so timing is good.
ReplyDeleteSent notice to current county that I have the section 8 voucher requesting she send info to new county for transfer.
The thought of getting regular help from a lyme specialist that takes the insurance I have keeps me going. Gives me hope.
Sending you My Prayers and Positive Energy through your transition and tough times I hope you accomplish the goals you have with the least resistance and easiest of paths. One step at a time and one day at a time and ask for help when you need it. Got Bless. Thinking of you.!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie. I was just about in tears and read your post and was reminded once again to take it a step at a time.
ReplyDeleteTalked to God and felt he was saying it would be OK. But, I have mis interpreted what I think God is telling me to do in the past.
Able to read the attachment the sect 8 housing for San Diego County said and it looks like the next step is to receive papers from their office and fill them in.
So, marked on my calendar 2 weeks from today that if I have not received the papers I need to contact them.
It also looks like I need to find a place that accepts Section 8 myself. here the person found it for me that worked for the county as it is a much smaller area.
Not sure how I am going to be able to find a place when I am not able to actually go to that town and look around.
I will cross that bridge when I come to it.
Hoping I am doing the right thing. Last time I was in tears about moving was when I took the job out of the area and ended up getting too sick to work and not liking the area.
with you, I believe valley fever is part of the problem too. WE had several come down sick at work and I had the same symptoms they had including the lesion that bubbled up and changed colors.
Like you..I also sold my car and ended up using the funds I was saving to purchase a home again on medical needs.
And like you got sick in 2001.
Yes Looks like we have alot in common. I hope you are doing ok. And Yes too One Day at time is all we have. There is so much to this disease that demands patience and feeling worse that it is very stressful and creates the unknown. Its very difficult. I wanted to say hi and say my prayers are with you and your in my thoughts. Deb
